Democracy day has been moved to June 12

Nigerians have been celebrating democracy day on the 29th of May every year but In a press statement released by the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the new democracy day has been moved to June 12th. This is to be celebrated in remembrance of Chief MKO Abiola who lost his life on June 12th 1993.

June 12 1993 was the day millions of Nigeria expressed their democratic will in the freest,fairest and most peaceful election since the country’s independence.
